The Single Eye Pilgrimage FAQ

What does “The Single Eye” mean?

In Matthew 6:22, Jesus says:

“If your eye is single, your whole body will be full of light.”

In Scripture, the “eye” represents the inner orientation of the heart—the way we perceive reality, the source we receive from, the direction of our trust.

A single eye is a heart receiving from one source: God Himself.
An evil eye is a heart receiving from two sources: mixture, self‑reliance, and divided perception.

The Single Eye is not about perfection.
It is about posture—a way of seeing God as the centre, the source, and the only light of the inner life.

Is the Single Eye connected to the Tree of Life?

Yes—thematically, not lexically.

Matthew 6:22 does not quote Genesis 2–3, but Jesus often teaches using Edenic categories: one source vs two sources, life vs death, light vs darkness, simplicity vs mixture.

Here’s the biblical‑theological pattern:

  • The Tree of Life represents receiving life from one source—God alone.
  • The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil represents receiving from two sources—good and evil—apart from God.
  • The Single Eye represents receiving light from one source.
  • The Evil Eye represents divided perception—two sources.

So the connection is not a word‑study connection.
It is a canonical one, rooted in Scripture’s use of imagery to reveal the heart’s posture.

Is this a new doctrine?

No.
The Single Eye is simply a biblical metaphor for undivided devotion and God‑centered perception.

It echoes themes found throughout Scripture:

  • “Unite my heart to fear Your name.” (Psalm 86:11)
  • “The pure in heart shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8)
  • “If your eye is evil…” (Matthew 6:23)
  • “The eyes of your heart enlightened.” (Ephesians 1:18)
  • “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” (Judges 21:25)

The Single Eye is not a new doctrine—it is a return to the simplicity of Christ.

Is The Single Eye a movement or a new denomination?

No.
It is intentionally not a movement, brand, denomination, or institution.

It is a posture—a way of seeing Christ as the indwelling source of life.

The Single Eye Community is a decentralised, relational ecosystem designed to protect:

  • simplicity
  • humility
  • equality
  • non‑hierarchy
  • Spirit‑led formation
  • authentic relationships

No leaders to follow.
No platform to build.
No movement to join.

Just Christ, in you.

Is this connected to mysticism or New Age spirituality?

No.
The Single Eye is rooted entirely in Scripture and the New Covenant.

The language of “eye,” “light,” “perception,” and “inner life” is thoroughly biblical. Jesus, Paul, and the prophets all use these metaphors.

The Single Eye is not about:

  • self‑actualization
  • manifesting
  • energy work
  • altered states
  • esoteric knowledge

It is about Christ as the only source of life, and the heart learning to receive from Him alone.

Is this Calvinism? Is it Arminianism?

The Single Eye is not built on a system.
It is built on Scripture.

However, the journey does gently invite people toward a God‑initiated view of salvation—what theologians call Monergism.

Why?

Because Jesus says:

  • “No one can come unless the Father draws.”
  • “You did not choose Me; I chose you.”
  • “A man can receive nothing unless it is given from heaven.”
  • “My sheep hear My voice.”

The Single Eye is not about winning theological debates.
It is about seeing salvation through the lens of God’s initiative, not human effort.

Is this a discipleship program?

Not in the traditional sense.

There are no:

  • performance metrics
  • spiritual checklists
  • accountability structures
  • leadership ladders
  • group expectations

The Single Eye is a 28‑day contemplative journey designed to help you:

  • unlearn the crowd’s voice
  • recognise the divided eye
  • See Christ as the only source
  • rest in His finished work
  • walk in relational simplicity

It is formation, not performance.
Awakening, not achievement.

Why is the tone so gentle and spacious?

Because transformation is not forced.
It is received.

The Single Eye journey is intentionally:

  • slow
  • quiet
  • non‑transactional
  • non‑pressured
  • relational
  • invitational

This protects the heart from:

  • religious striving
  • spiritual comparison
  • performance anxiety
  • external validation
  • group conformity

The atmosphere is part of the formation.

Do I need to be part of a church to participate?

You are welcome whether you are:

  • in a church
  • between churches
  • hurt by the church
  • unsure about the church
  • or simply seeking clarity

The Single Eye is not a replacement for the Body of Christ.
It is a way of seeing Christ clearly so that you can engage the Body from a place of rest, not confusion or pressure.

Is this safe for people who have been spiritually wounded?

Yes.
The journey is designed with wounded believers in mind.

There is:

  • no pressure
  • no hierarchy
  • no spiritual superiority
  • no emotional manipulation
  • no “shoulds” or “oughts”
  • no performance expectations

Just Christ, gently re‑orienting the heart back to Himself.

What happens after the 28‑day journey?

You are free.

Free to:

  • continue in the Graduate Community
  • walk with a small group
  • explore deeper formation
  • or simply rest in what God has shown you

There is no funnel.
No upsell.
No pressure to stay.

The goal is not to keep you.
The goal is to release you into the simplicity of Christ.

How do I know if this journey is for me?

If you feel:

  • spiritually exhausted
  • confused by competing voices
  • hungry for clarity
  • tired of performance
  • drawn to simplicity
  • ready to see Christ as the only source

…then the Single Eye is for you.

If not, that’s okay too.
There is no pressure to begin.
