Examine Yourselves!

Examine Yourselves

I stand condemned recently as a cultist by Matthew Adams of My Reason to Believe Substack for my well-reasoned Replacement Theology article.

My accuser also took the unprecedented step of reporting me to the Australian Federal Police as a cult leader.

What balanced follower of Christ would do such a thing?

Am I inciting people to hatred and violence?

This unprecedented action violates everything Substack stands for. Substack respects the right of every writer to speak as they wish, within the limits of civilised discourse. Matthew Adams lives under a different set of rules, however, where anyone who disagrees with his Zionist fanaticism is publicly humiliated.

Very few things get me to the edge, but the reaction to my article has crystallised to me the nature of the spiritual battle I fight.

As the image above depicts, I am in the dock, just like the saints of the Dark Ages. The Roman Catholic church has the blood of millions of saints on its hands as it tried dismally to eradicate anyone who disagreed with it.

Jude 1:3-4 LSB  Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you exhorting that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.  (4)  For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

The movement called Christian Zionism has hardly crept in unnoticed, however.

Christian Zionism

The Christian Zionist movement emerged in 19th-century Britain among Protestant premillennialists who interpreted certain biblical prophecies as requiring Jewish return to Palestine before Christ’s return. Key figures like John Nelson Darby’s dispensationalism and writings of C.I. Scofield popularised these views, which gained significant traction in America through evangelical circles.

The movement gained political influence in the 20th century, particularly after Israel’s founding in 1948 and the 1967 Six-Day War, which many saw as prophetic fulfilment. American evangelicals like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson became prominent supporters, forming organisations that lobbied for pro-Israel policies based on theological interpretations of Genesis 12:3 and other passages.

This support often operated separately from traditional Christian theology regarding the Church as spiritual Israel, creating tension between Zionist interpretations and historical Christian understandings of prophecy and covenant. The movement’s influence peaked during the Reagan and both Bush administrations, shaping significant aspects of U.S. foreign policy toward Israel.

The Christian Zionist movement is nothing more than a repeat of the abominations of the Dark Ages, but this time without the violence (yet). It is a cult that cherry-picks verses that suit its agenda without due respect for the entire council of Yahweh.

Let me be clear.

I love the deluded people who are mind-controlled by this movement, but I abhor the institutions that developed and profit from it.

In the end, however, it is a matter of the heart. Yahweh has already determined those written in the Book of Life because He knows how each human finishes his/her spiritual battle:

Isaiah 46:9-10 LSB  “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me,  (10)  Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My counsel will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’,

Test Yourself!

I am secure in my faith, and it is up to each of us to test our own hearts:

2 Corinthians 13:4-5 LSB  For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we will live with Him because of the power of God toward you.  (5)  Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

The Overcomers

Revelation tells us that those written in the Book of Life are the overcomers:

Revelation 3:5 LSB  ‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments, and I will never erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

What do we overcome?

The spiritual battle for our minds!

Ephesians 6:10-12 LSB  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the might of His strength.  (11)  Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  (12)  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Conclusion

The road to the Book of Life is narrow:

Matthew 7:12-14 LSB  “Therefore, in all things, whatever you want people to do for you, so do for them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.  (13)  “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.  (14)  “For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Do not reconcile yourself against the doctrines of men. But be pure in your self-assessment against the scriptures you read.

If I stand condemned for defending the measure of faith I have received, so be it. I stand ready to die for Jesus any day. I value as nothing the condemnations of man.

Blessings

Geoff
